High Court order to recount votes in Pokhara-18

Gandaki: The High Court, Pokhara has ordered a recount of votes in Pokhara Metropolitan City-18 under the local level elections held in May 13 last year.

One of the candidates who contested for the post of ward president, Shiv Prasad Timilsina, of Nepali Congress, had won by a margin of three votes. His closest opponent CPN (UML)’s Pushkal Thapa had filed an application in the high court demanding a recount of votes.

Information officer of the court Bishnu Prasad Acharya shared that a division bench of High Court Chief Justice Dilliraj Acharya and Judge Rishiraj Bhandari annulled the previous count and ordered a recount.

The provincial election office Pokhara has been ordered to manage the human resources for the counting and the registrar of the high court to designate the location.
