President waives EC-imposed fines to local election candidates

Kathmandu: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has, in recommendation of the Council of Ministers on February 16, waived fines imposed by the Election Commission to the candidates of local level election held on May 13 for not submitting election expenditure.
In a statement issued by Assistant Spokesperson of the Office of the President, Leelakanta Poudel on Friday, it is noted that President Bhandari waived the EC-stipulated penalty amount in line with the Article 276 of the Constitution.
Likewise, President Bhandari also commuted the jail term of 381 inmates and pardoned 14 people including Pushkar Gautam on the occasion of National Democracy Day
