14th European Union Film Festival to showcase 25 films

Kathmandu: The 14th European Union Film Festival (EUFF) is going to be organised in Nepal from November 14-16 at Chhaya Centre, Kathmandu and in Pokhara from November 21-23.

This year’s edition features 25 films. Of them, 10 European films and six short films nominated for BAFTA award of the United Kingdom and nine short Nepali films, according to the organiser.

Information Officer of the European Union, Bidya Maharjan, shared that the films have been selected by reviewing the themes including identity of social life, resistance and transformation. The films selected for the festival have reflected courage, memory, hope, language and culture.

A film Banjo from Portugal, Je’vida from Finland, Happy from Austria, Without Air from Hungary, The Girl From Tomorrow from France and Italy have been selected. Wander to Wonder, Rock Paper Scissors, Mog’s Christmas, and Milk and Adios under BAFTA nominated short movies from UK as well as Nepali short movies selected from film artists and film related organisations have been included, added Maharjan.

The EU Delegation to Nepal is organising the EUFF. All films selected for festival would be screened free of cost.

All the films would have subtitle in English language. Different events would also be organised to strengthen connection between arts, industry and learning, he stressed. RSS
