Kathmandu: The Election Commission (EC) has endorsed the voting scheduled for the upcoming National Assembly elections announced for January 25.
EC meeting held on Thursday set December 8 for issuing a notice for the registration of political partiers taking part in the elections. Likewise, the timeline from December 10-15 is for registering the political parties.
Similarly, political parties will be granted the election symbols on December 17 and the names of political parties eligible for taking part in the upper House election will be sent for the publications in the Nepal Gazette on December 20, according to EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel.
The voting for the election will take place from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on January 25. As per the endorsed election schedule, the appointments of election officers will be made on January 1 and the office of election officers will be established in the election offices of the seven provinces same day.
The election related programmes will be conducted in the election officers’ offices from January 5 to 13. The government on November 29 announced to hold the NA election for one third of the NA seats turning vacant since March 4 with the six-year terms of 20 members including Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina getting end on March 3.
