Kathmandu: The meeting of the Constitutional Council has begun at Singha Durbar. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is chairing the meeting.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Purna Bahadur Khadka and leader of the main opposition party in the House of Representatives, KP Sharma Oli are participating in the meeting.
The major agenda of the meeting is to discuss the recommendation for the appointment of the Chief Justice. The meeting is being held following an agreement reached between the three major parties to summon the Constitutional Council meeting for recommending the appointment of the Chief Justice.
