Proposal seeking consideration on Constitutional Council Bill approved

Kathmandu: A proposal seeking a consideration on a Bill on the Constitutional Council (Functions, Duties, Powers and Procedures) (the first amendment) was approved from the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on Sunday.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma, on behalf of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, had tabled the Bill in the HoR House seeking consideration on the Bill.
Tabling the proposal, Minister Sharma said the Bill was presented to advance the functions of the Constitutional Council and fulfill the gaps in it.

Responding to the queries raised by the MPs in the meeting, Minister Sharma said that concerns of all on appointment of qualified persons in the constitutional bodies have been incorporated in the Bill adding that the provisions of the Bill would help maintain checks and balance among the three bodiesof the State.

Lawmakers Mahesh Kumar Bartaula, Raghuji Pant, Prakash Jwala, Bhanubhakta Joshi, Pradip Yadav, Badri Prasad Pandey, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Arjun Narsingh KC, Ramhari Khatiwada, Devendra Poudel and Prem Suwal took part in the theoretical discussions on the Bill.
