Janakpurdham: The first President of the Republic of Nepal, Dr Rambaran Yadav, has said that political parties should improve their conduct to strengthen the federal democratic republic.
Speaking at a program organized by the Janakpur Intellectual Society here Monday to mark the 73rd Democracy Day, former President Dr Yadav said that the parties have no choice but to reform themselves since the remnants of the 240-year-old autocratic monarchy still exists.
Stating that resentment is arising among the citizens, he pointed out the need for leaders to improve and people to remain alert to protect the republic”, he said. Central Member of Janata Samajbadi Party, Ram Govind Yadav, said it would not be right to blame the entire system showing the weakness of the individuals who runs the system. At the program, Prof Dr Pashupatinath Jha expressed the view that democracy without ethics will always face crisis. President of Janakpur Intellectual Society, Rajeshwar Nepali, urged all the parties to work together to protect the system as a whole.
