Vice President calls for institutionalizing democratic achievements

Kathmandu: Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has appealed to the people from all quarters to contribute for protecting and institutionalizing achievements of 1951 democratic movement and revolutions and movements thereafter.

In his message of best wishes on the occasion of the National Democracy Day-2079 BS today, the Vice President remembered all those who sacrificed their precious lives for the cause of democracy and extended tributes to them.

The Vice President further said that it was the responsibility of all Nepalis to safeguard achievements of historic movements such as republic, federalism, secularism and proportional inclusion founded on the principle of social justice. “May the Democracy Day inspire us to promote geographical integrity, national independence and civic freedom and move towards the path of development and prosperity.”

He remembered Fagun 7, 2007 BS (February 18, 1951) as the Day when the Nepali people secured a glorious victory against the then Rana rule through a historic movement and reclaim democracy.
