Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has pledged to develop the Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre (SGNHC) at Bansbari in Kathmandu as an educational academy.

Speaking at the 27th anniversary of the Centre, he said, “You have demanded to develop it as an educational academy. The government will take it seriously. You can also take information about the process from the Ministry of Health and Population. The government is committed to your demand.”

Stating that the Centre has been established as a centre of hopes and faiths of all Nepali people, he thanked the whole hospital team for their incredible contribution and service. Established in the memory of those martyrs who lost their lives during movements against dictatorship and tyranny, the Centre is connected with the subject of democracy and social justice aside from it being an institution to treat heart patients, he said.

“I believe you (entire hospital family) will fulfill your responsibility towards democracy and social justice by delivering health service to poor people in a feasible way.” Stating that the Constitution has accorded high priorities to social justice and equality, he said some laws relating to fundamental rights of people had yet to be made, and acts were being tabled in the parliament. “During my tenure as PM, provincial hospitals alongside special health service including heart units will be established in all seven provinces,” he said. He also sought help of all people to carry out development activities in the sector of education, health and employment.-
