Kathmandu: The CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has stressed the need for maintaining balanced, credible and reliable relations with all countries.

He was speaking at a two-day orientation organised here today by the party’s Foreign Department. “We should build clear and reliable relations with our two neighbouring countries. The trend of talking one thing and doing another practically should be shunned. We should be a well-wisher to become a good neighbour. We should move ahead by rightly addressing their concerns,” said the former Prime Minister.

Stating that interference with Nepal’s sovereignty and independence should be negated, he said, “We will not allow any military force to be based in our country. But, Nepal has kept friendly relations with all, and has not harboured enmity with anyone.”

Asking all to work for global peace, he said, “Let peace prevail across the world, and let sovereignty of all countries be respected.” Saying war of any kind would not be supported, he underscored the need for all to end conflict in the world. “War in any country should be ended through talks. All countries are vested with sovereignty.”

Nepal’s foreign policy is that it moves ahead by embracing the policy of friendship with all based on the principles outlined in the country’s foreign policy being consolidated and on mutual benefits and respect, he said.
