Kathmandu: Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane, who was in jail on charges of rape, has been released.

On Thursday, the Patan High Court ordered Sandeep to be released on a bond of 20 lakhs.

Sandeep, who was released from Sundhara Central Jail, will now be handed over to his family after a medical examination. Sandeep’s well-wishers even raised slogans in favor of Sandeep at the prison gate.

A teenager girl had filed a complaint against Lamichhane at the Metropolitan Police Circle Gaushala saying that she was raped at a hotel in Tilganga on the night of Bhadra 5th.

Lamichhane had gone to the West Indies to play the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) after completing the Twenty-20 cricket series with Kenya.

From there, he went to America and surrendered to the Nepal Police at Tribhuvan International Airport after coming to Nepal on Ashwin 20th.
