Kathmandu: Hikmat Kumar Karki of CPN-UML has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Province No. 1.
Provincial Chief Parshuram Khapung appointed Karki as Chief Minister on Sunday evening.
Karki has been appointed as the Chief Minister according to Article 168 of the Constitution of Nepal, according to the Office of the Provincial Head.
Karki submitted his claim for Chief Minister with the support of CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Janata Samajbadi Party.
Karki is also the leader of the UML parliamentary party of Province 1.
