Kathmandu: The Madhavnarayan Mela has started from today at Shalinadi in Sankhu, the ancient city of Shankarapur.

Hindu’s ‘Sriswosthani Bratkatha’ and worship of Madhavnarayan, which starts every year on the day of Poush Shukla Purnima, has started from today.

Swosthani stories are told every day for a  month from Poush Shukla Purnima to Magha Shukla Purnima every year.

There is a religious belief  among the Hindus that if one observes the fasting of Swosthani Parameshwari and listens to the story, one’s wishes will be fulfilled.
