Five houses burnt, property worth 50 million destroyed

Khotang: The fire that broke out in Baksila market of Kepilasgarhi rural municipality-4 on Monday evening has damaged property worth around Rs.50 million. Five residential houses and more than a dozen shops were destroyed by the fire that started from the house of local Deepak Gurung.

The house of Deepak Gurung, Ramesh Pariyar, Subharaj Rai and Dilli Kumar Shrestha was completely destroyed by the fire. The house of local Akbar Rai was demolished to bring the fire under control after about four hours.

District Police Chief DSP Manjil Mukarung said that the cause of the fire has not been confirmed yet. Immediately after the incident, the meeting chaired by the deputy head of the rural municipality, Gururaj Rai, decided to request all government and non-government agencies, including the federal government, the provincial government, to provide compensation to the families of the fire survivors.

District Disaster Management Committee Coordinator and Chief District Officer Surya Prasad Sedai shared that initiatives are being taken to provide immediate relief and rehabilitation to the fire victims.
