Udhauli reflects human-nature bond: President Bhandari

Kathmandu: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said the festival celebrated with Nepali cultural and ethnic originality has helped foster social harmony and keep intact diversity. Giving a message of best wishes on the occasion of the Udhauli festival today, President Bhandari said Nepal is a garden of diverse communities and indigenous nationalities.

The Udhauli festival would boost the common identity of Nepalis. “This festival reflects the human-nature bond,” she said in the message, expressing belief that such festivals contribute to the national unity with mutual harmony, tolerance and brotherhood.

The people from Kirat community as Rai, Limbu, Yakkha and Sunuwar offer the new harvest to their ancestors and worship the land for good harvest. They also perform dance and pageants being donned in traditional cultural attires.

Moreover, the Udhauli festival also indicates the change in climate- the people, animals and birds migrate to the warmers places of low altitude. The President wished peace, prosperity and happiness to all Nepali brothers and sisters on this occasion.
