UML’s Mahato clinches HoR seat in Dhanusha-3

Dhanusha: CPN (UML) candidate Juli Kumari Mahato has been elected the House of Representatives Member from Dhanusha electoral constituency no 3.

She has won the election by a margin of 9,669 votes against the votes secured by her closest contender Anil Jha of the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, who was the common candidate of the ruling alliance.

According to the Election Office, Mahato obtained 33,355 votes and Jha has 23,686 votes.

With this, Mahato has tasted victory in the first-past-the-post (FPTP) electoral system for the first time. She was picked as the MP two times before this from the proportional representation quota. She was also a federal minister.
